Health writing usually fails in one of two directions. Either it is accurate and nobody finishes it, or it is delightful and quietly wrong. Both failures are expensive for a brand — one wastes the science, the other spends the trust.
These three pieces were written to hold both at once. Each began with the literature: what has actually been shown, in whom, at what dose. Then the harder pass — finding the sentence a real person would repeat to a friend, without smuggling in a claim the evidence can't carry.
The supplement industry is worth over $180 billion globally. The peer-reviewed evidence supporting the majority of products within it is worth considerably less.
This is not a conspiracy. It is a regulatory gap and a marketing problem dressed as a wellness movement, and it is worth understanding precisely because the answer is not to avoid supplements. It is to stop buying them the way you buy a feeling.
The first thing to understand is that "clinically proven" means almost nothing without a citation. Proven in what context? In what population? At what dose, for what duration, measured against what outcome? A randomized controlled trial with 400 participants over 12 weeks is not the same thing as a pilot study of 22 university students who self-reported feeling better. Both can legally appear on a label as evidence.
The supplement industry in most markets operates under food regulation, not pharmaceutical regulation. Manufacturers are not required to demonstrate efficacy before selling a product. They are required not to make explicitly false claims — a bar so low that the entire industry has built a grammar around it.
Creatine monohydrate has over 700 peer-reviewed studies. The mechanism is understood, the dosing is established, the safety profile over decades is clear. This is a supplement with evidence.
Most adaptogens — ashwagandha being the current favourite — have genuinely promising preliminary data and approximately three high-quality long-term trials in humans. This is a supplement with potential.
Most proprietary blends in aesthetically packaged products aimed at women contain dosages below threshold levels of every ingredient listed — meaning even the ingredients that work don't work at the amounts provided. This is a supplement with branding.
A specific strain or form of the ingredient matters. Not all magnesium is equal. Magnesium oxide has poor bioavailability. Magnesium glycinate does not. Same mineral, very different result, almost never specified in marketing.
Third-party testing matters. NSF Certified for Sport, Informed Sport, USP — these are organizations that test whether what is on the label is actually in the product. An expensive brand without third-party certification is just expensive.
Dosage matters more than ingredient lists. A product containing 50mg of an ingredient that requires 500mg to have measurable effect is theater.
None of this makes supplements bad. It makes critical reading non-negotiable. The science exists. The evidence is there. The problem is that nobody profits from teaching you to read it, and everybody profits from making you feel like the right powder will fix everything quietly disappointing you about your current life. It won't. But the right powder, at the right dose, with the right evidence behind it, will do exactly what it says. That is already quite a lot.
Somewhere between turning 25 and realizing you can't eat pizza at midnight and feel fine in the morning, the body starts sending memos. You ignore them. The memos get louder.

Evidence supports 1.6–2.2g per kg of bodyweight for active women, with roughly 2.5–3g of leucine per meal as the trigger. A protein supplement is simply the most practical way to close the gap. The wellness industry wants to sell you photogenic powders and the idea that health is primarily an aesthetic pursuit. We are interested in something different: women understanding their own physiology, having access to research that exists and is largely ignored, and making decisions based on what actually works. The science on creatine, collagen and protein for women is not new, not fringe — it is published, replicated, and consistently underrepresented because for a very long time, sports and nutrition research was conducted mostly on men.
We've all heard those jokes about people who have to arrange pencils by colour or wipe every single crumb off the table. But obsessive-compulsive disorder is much more than that.
I'm pretty sure that all the people who tell you they have OCD actually don't have it at all, while those who do have it either don't know they have it or don't talk about it. Charming and quirky OCD characters from TV shows often have no idea what it actually looks like to have OCD.
It is not a cute personality trait that makes you feel special, but a horrible, often paralyzing feeling of being obsessed with disturbing thoughts over which we have no control and which we do not want to have. It is the belief that arbitrary things around you are a sign that something you fear the most is going to happen.

Take a look at what is actually happening inside those suffering heads, and don't dismiss those people as annoying weirdos who make drama over things that seem impossible to you — listen to them without judgment. "Just relax" is not helpful. If we could, we would relax.
It helps to read about it and realize that, fortunately, you are not special at all, and that every bizarre thought or action that obsesses you obsesses many other people as well. It also helps to remember that we are not our thoughts, and that we actually can control them — it is one of the rare things in this life over which we do have control. We can control our response to thoughts; we do not have to react. We can, for example, breathe.
